USS Solace is a Detroit-class Support Frigate -- Starfleet's emergency response vessel and mobile repair yard-in-one.

It is a durable, robust, albeit older, Federation starship. Accomodations are cramped and sparse. While well-shielded, weaponry is sparse -- it mounts a single Type IV phaser bank fore and a potent tractor beam aft. The tractor beam is intended for towing, but has tactical applications. The most unusual characteristic of the Detroit-class is its Workbee "swarm"; 12 Workbee workman vehicles are carried in the Detroit's launch bay.
